Keeping pace with technological advancements, more physicians are turning to telemedicine as a new health care delivery model. A recent FierceHealthIT article discusses work from HCFO grantee R. Adams Dudley, M.D., University of California, San Francisco, on the rise of telemedicine and the need for medical education to “prepare physicians to engage in the safe and effective use of telemedicine.” In his HCFO-funded study, Dudley examined the processes and quality of virtual medical care and suggests that research on best practices, developing standards of care, and educating physicians will fill the quality gap in new delivery models.
