A HCFO-funded study by Kathleen Adams, Ph.D., Emory University, was cited in a CDC report on the trends in smoking before, during, and after pregnancy. The reported referenced Adams’ finding that comprehensive tobacco control policies are needed to significantly reduce smoking among pregnant women. Adams also found that an increase in cigarette taxes and prices as well as full worksite smoking bans were effective in increasing quitting rates among pregnant women.
