Bonnie J. Austin, J.D.
HCFO Deputy Director, AcademyHealth Vice President

Bonnie Austin is Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development at AcademyHealth, where she also serves as Deputy Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization (HCFO) program. She joined AcademyHealth in January 2001. Ms. Austin's HCFO work includes evaluating and administering grants, developing and managing conferences on health care financing issues and authoring monographs, newsletter articles and briefing papers. Her responsibilities also include developing, implementing and refining strategic approaches to business development at AcademyHealth, including grants, contracts, and strategic partnerships. Ms. Austin serves as Assistant Secretary to AcademyHealth's Board of Directors and supports a number of Board committee activities. Prior to joining AcademyHealth, Ms. Austin worked for 10 years as a litigator at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Her practice involved representing clients, including health care providers, in criminal investigations, civil suits and administrative proceedings. Ms. Austin received her MPH from The George Washington University, her JD from University of Notre Dame Law School and her BA from Dartmouth College.

Michael E. Gluck, Ph.D.
AcademyHealth Director

Michael E. Gluck is a director at AcademyHealth, where he works with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization (HCFO) program as well as other AcademyHealth initiatives. Prior to joining AcademyHealth in 2009, he served as the first director of the California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP), a joint venture of the University of California and the California State Legislature to provide the latter with nonpartisan technical analyses for proposed health insurance benefit mandates. Dr. Gluck was also formerly the director of health policy at the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) where he headed up a five-year project on Medicare's long-term future and has held research positions at the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), Georgetown University's Health Policy Institute, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. His work has included economic and clinical assessments of medical technology and research on biomedical research policy, Medicare, and public policies related to prescription drugs. He received a BA in history magna cum laude from Haverford College and MPP and PhD degrees in public policy from Harvard University.

Sarah Katz, M.H.S.A. 
Associate

Sarah Katz is an associate with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization (HCFO) initiative. Her responsibilities include proposal evaluation, grant monitoring, developing special topic solicitations, and supporting HCFO’s convening and dissemination activities. Prior to joining AcademyHealth in July 2010, she worked in the editorial offices of American Family Physician, a semi-monthly publication of the American Academy of Family Physicians and its chief clinical journal. She holds a master’s degree in health systems administration from Georgetown University and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland.

Christina Zimmerman
Research Assistant

 Christina Zimmerman joined AcademyHealth in July 2010. She is a Research Assistant with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's (RWJF) Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization (HCFO) initiative. Her main responsibilities include supporting HCFO's grantmaking, convening, and disseminating activities, as well as assisting in the development of newsletter articles and findings briefs. Before joining AcademyHealth, Ms. Zimmerman interned with Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington and The American Legacy Foundation. She received a B.S. in Health Studies, concentration on Population Health Promotion, from Georgetown University in 2010.
